ABOUT ME
A creator of memory.

My name is Erin Paris. I’m a fine art photographer based in Los Angeles, with over 15 years of experience creating portraits. I specialize in contemporary processes of portraiture with a background in traditional portraiture and a focus on weddings and families.
Born and raised in Hawai’i, my artistic voice has always been shaped by light, mystery, and the subtle languages of nature. I now create from my studio in California and travel worldwide for commissioned sessions.
I believe in the multi-dimensional, imperfect, chaotic beauty of what is real, especially in people. But within that chaos, I also hold reverence for a deeper order: the quiet architecture that holds the universe together. I love to find patterns beneath the surface: shapes, harmonies, invisible structures that echo something eternal. This is why shape plays such a central role in my work. To me, each symbol is a thread in that larger design; a way of honoring the mysterious order that shapes both the cosmos and the self. I approach each session with curiosity and care, led by wonder for both the universe around us and the one unfolding within you.

MY PHILOSOPHy
The world shimmers with meaning, even in its quietest corners. There’s an order behind the chaos, a logic woven through the patterns of nature, emotion, memory, and time. Some truths reveal themselves in formulas and geometry; others whisper through intuition, dreams, and the unseen. None cancel the other out. The rational and the mysterious belong to the same fabric. And in the smallest details: shadows, gestures, silences in which often lies the greatest truth. From those details, art emerges.
Art is a spiritual practice for me and all spiritual practices, in their essence, reach toward the same horizon: a desire to understand the eternal, to connect with something greater, to feel less alone in the mystery. Symbols, rituals, presence: these are our tools for exploring what cannot be explained. Through creation, I believe we embody the divine.
In an age of machines, portraiture embodies our human need for connection. Portraiture is an art that AI cannot replicate; it expresses a moment when one consciousness pauses to honor another. Humans will likely always want other humans to take their portraits because of our need for connection. It isn’t about data or looks. Portraiture is about a uniquely human experience. A Talisman expresses the depth of your experience using uniquely human symbols. A reminder, especially now, that our humanity will always mean something.
This work adds dimension where traditional photography often pauses. The sessions themselves may resemble those of many photographers: lively, full of motion, direction, and ease. Like others, my photography blends natural interaction with intentional posing, especially when shaping an image for a future Talisman. But the real magic happens afterward. What sets this work apart is what comes next: the expansion of what a portrait can hold. These are not just images, they are layered expressions, symbolic documents, living reflections of complexity.
A Talisman holds what was, what is, and what could be. Its meaning is ephemeral: it will deepen, soften, and eventually disappear just like our lives, and it's also a form of alchemy. It uses the power of intention to shape perception, memory, emotion, even identity. Every mark begins with a thought. Every mark influences the mind that contemplates it. A talisman sets an ideal reality in motion.

LEt's connect
There’s something powerful about curiosity; it’s where every meaningful journey begins. So let me ask you:
What would you love to remember about this chapter of your life? What do you hope others feel when they see you, not just now, but years from now? What makes you feel most alive? Most rooted? Most yourself?
Whether your story is unfolding quietly or wildly, whether you’ve figured things out or are still in the mystery, I’m honored you’re here.
If something in this work resonates, trust that spark. Reach out. Share a piece of your story, or simply say hello. I’d love to hear what’s on your heart.
